There was music by Debussy, his Prelude à l'apres-midi d’un faune (Prelude to “The Afternoon of a Faun”) and “Nocturnes” plus, the centerpiece of the program, Gabriel Fauré’s Incidental Music for Pelleas et Mélisande, Op. 80 (1898, orchestrated by Charles Koechlin).

Led by guest conductor Cristian Macelaru, it was a program that offered something for everybody: “riSE and fLY,” a concerto for percussion, by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe; Symphonic Triptych, final work by American master Gunther Schuller, who died in June; and Edward Elgar’s well loved “Enigma Variations.”
