concert:nova presents music of “La Belle Epoque” (“The Beautiful Era”), the period from the late 19th century until the outbreak of World War I in Paris. Choral ensembles of UC and CCM – the CCM Chamber Choir and Chorale, UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses and the Cincinnati Children’s Choir -- are joined by singers from Shangai’s East China Normal University in music inspired by Shakespeare in continuing observance of the Shakespeare quadricentennial. Featured works include Frank Martin’s Five Songs of Ariel from “The Tempest,” Jakko Mantyjarvi’s “Double, Double, Toil and Trouble” from “Macbeth and songs from “Measure to Measure,” “Two Gentlemen of Verona” and “Hamlet” by Matthew Harris.
