Five finalists have been announced for the post of music director of the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, effective in the fall of 2016.
Each will conduct an audition concert and feedback will be gathered via an audience survey distributed at the event.
The first of the five candidates, interim music director Kelly Kuo, led the orchestra September 3 in Corbett Theater at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in downtown Cincinnati.
The other finalists are:
Donato Cabrera, resident conductor of the San Francisco Symphony and music director of the San Francisco Youth Orchestra
Sarah Ioannnides, music director of the Tacoma Symphony and Spartanburg Philharmonic, former assistant conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and former music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra
Daniel Meyer, music director of the Erie Philharmonic and Asheville Symphony and artistic director of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra
Eckart Preu, music director of the Spokane and Stamford Symphonies.
Each will lead the CCO during Summermusik 2016, the orchestra's annual summer festival, according to the following schedule:

In addition to serving as interim CCO Music director, Kuo is artistic director of the Oregon Mozart Players and music director and conductor of the Butler Opera Center at the University of Texas at Austin.
The Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, an all-professional ensemble of 32 players, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2014. With programming from the baroque and classical eras to commissioned works by contemporary composers, the orchestra is noted for its collaborations with Cincinnati's Vocal Arts Ensemble and Madcap Puppet Theater.
Former music directors include founder Paul Nadler, Gerhard Samuel and Keith Lockhart.
