The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music has announced mainstage programming for its 2015-2016 season.
Headlining CCM’s mainstage series of opera, musical theatre, drama and dance will be Franz Lehar’s “The Merry Widow,” Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel,” “Ah, Wilderness!” by Eugene O’Neill and Tchaikovsky’s ballet “Swan Lake.”
Also on the season schedule are the rock opera “American Idiot” (based on Green Day’s Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album of the same name), Leoš Janácek’s opera “The Cunning Little Vixen” and “Pentecost” by David Edgar.
Edgar’s “Pentecost,” a 1995 play about the discovery of a painting closely resembling, but predating a known masterwork, thereby dividing the worlds of art history and politics, opens the season Sept. 30 in Patricia Corbett Theater. “Carousel” opens the musical theatre season Oct. 29 in Corbett Auditorium, with “The Merry Widow” following in November in PCT.
