Get thee to CCM next season, for the performing arts overflow.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music presents nearly 1,000 events annually and is, according to its web site, “the largest single source of performing and media arts events in the state of Ohio.” Events range from solo recitals to fully staged opera and musical theater productions.

To be seen and heard during CCM’s 2013-14 main stage season will be Gaetano Donizetti’s comic opera “Don Pasquale”; “Owen Wingrave” by Benjamin Britten; “Singin’ in the Rain,” based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film musical; “Les Misérables” by Claude-Michel Schönberg; Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible“; “Metamorphoses” by Mary Zimmerman, based on Ovid’s classic poem; and the ballet “Giselle” by Adolphe Adam.

In addition, there will be a complete cycle of the Beethoven string quartets by CCM’s ensemble-in-residence, the Ariel Quartet; a staged performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s “St. John Passion" (to be presented in conjunction with the Constella Festival of Music and Fine Arts); John Adams’ opera-oratorio “El Niño”; anniversary tributes to Richard Wagner, Giuseppe Verdi and Britten and a jazz salute to the Rolling Stones, among many others.

The season opens Sept. 22 in Corbett Auditorium with the French language version of Verdi’s “Don Carlos” in a two-part concert performance by the CCM Concert and Philharmonia Orchestras (acts I-III and III-V, respectively) with the CCM Chamber Choir and Chorale under the baton of conductor Mark Gibson.

The perennial “Feast of Carols,” “Pianopalooza” and PRISM concerts will return, as will the annual concerto concert featuring winners of CCM’s concerto competition.

Subscriptions and flex ticket packages go on sale June 17, single tickets beginning Sept. 9. For further information, contact the CCM box office at (513) 556-4183, or visit http://www.ccm.uc.edu
