There has been a new birth on the Cincinnati music scene, a
jazz series at Washington Platform downtown.
Established by bassist Michael Sharfe, the series features artists from Cincinnati’s distinguished jazz community.
Performances take place in the Canal Room of the restaurant from 9 to midnight on Fridays. There is no cover, but a $10 food or drink minimum is required. The kitchen is open until 11. The restaurant is located at 1000 Elm St. at the corner of Court and Elm Streets, (513) 421-0110.
Up tonight (Oct. 12) are the Three Voices, featuring Kim
Pensyl on trumpet, Rusty Burge on vibes and bassist Sharfe, with special guest
Tony Franklin on drums. They will
perform music from the Three Voices’ “Transitions” (“an excellent example
of classic music performed sublimely with reverence and respect by superior
musicians,” according to Jazz Times).
