On Sunday, September 30, 2012, Matinée Musicale Cincinnati presented a special program at the Anderson Center in conjunction with Arthur Murray Dance Studios in honor of the 100th year of both organizations.  It was a fun mixture of instrumental and dance selections, interspersed with interesting, and often amusing, historical highlights from both groups’ first 100 years.  Some audience members and performers were in vintage costume.  Opening Sunday’s program was a slide show featuring 50 of the dozens of now-famous musicians who have performed on the recital series, often making their Cincinnati, or even their American debuts.

The program was the kick-off to Matinée Musicale’s 2012-2013 Season, which is presented in honor of the late Louise Dieterle Nippert, former President Emeritus of MM.

Matinée Musicale Cincinnati presents four recitals annually of the finest up-and-coming vocalists and instrumentalists from around the world.  The first recital of the 100th anniversary season features Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung, piano duo, and will take place Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Rd., Anderson Township.

Bax, who performed for MM two years ago, returns with his wife, Lucille Chung.  Connecting with audiences as a powerful duo couple, Bax and Chung are a perfect combination of balance, unity, and individual personalities. Both artists also maintain full solo careers.  The four-hand arrangement of "Petrouchka" by Stravinsky and Four Tangos by Piazzolla will be performed, as well as solos by Rachmaninoff and Liszt.  There will be a "meet and greet" with the musicians during refreshments following the concert.

The remaining three concerts on the 100th Matinée Musicale series are Alexander Fiterstein, clarinet, Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Mayerson Jewish Community Center; Benjamin Grosvenor, piano, Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Center; and Kara Shay Thomson, soprano, Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Anderson Center.

Season tickets are $50 and include a free “bonus” ticket good for any recital.  Single recital tickets are interchangeable.  To order, call (513) 469-9819.  Tickets may also be purchased online or at the door. Single Tickets are $15 at door, $3 for students with ID.
